Here are some of the acts that are lined up for this year's Fest:

Gustav the Queen’s Bard

GustavGustav continues the tradition of opening Faery Fest with the first stage act following the opening of the Gates to Faery Land!

Accompanying himself on an eclectic variety of instruments, Gustav’s voice travels across the fields of enchanment to your ears cradling you in its magic.

WhirlyGig

Passionate about traditional music, WhirlyGig is a dance band from the Guelph/Kitchener area that plays music for ceilis, weddings and folk festivals.

With Robin Aggus (borderpipes; Scottish smallpipes; highland pipes; whistle), Eva McCauley (fiddle; concertina: mandolin), Irene Shelton (keyboard), Jakob McCauley (bodhran), and Kari Kokko (caller), WhirlyGig will entertain you with blasts of jigs, reels and hornpipes from Ireland, Scotland, Brittany and Galicia, as well as haunting airs and songs.

Tethera

TetheraTethera is the collective name for three Cambridge, Ontario musicians:  Paul Morris (mandolin, vocals, concertina and melodeon), Brad McEwen (citterns and vocals) and Brian Sinclair (mandocello and various other unique stringed instruments).  Paul is one half of the English Music Hall duo County Vaudeville, and Brad and Brian have been in Nonesuch for years.

The repertoire consists of mainly traditional English dance tunes and songs, but other things have been known to creep in from Ireland, France, Brittany, Belgium and even Canada!  They have been playing together in pub sessions for many years and bring the relaxed style of the informal session to the festival stage.  Just close your eyes and imagine the ancient timbers of an old pub and a pint of English ale in front of you!

Nero’s Fiddle

Nero’s Fiddle http://www.myspace.com/nerosfiddle5

Nero’s Fiddle (Formerly the Trillingham Ladies Chorus) grew out of a stage act at the now defunct, but unforgettable Ontario Renaissance Festival.  Cast as much for characters as singers, Nero's Fiddle is an ecclectic mix of unusual suspects with a range of ages, interests, alibis, quirks and sounds.

The live show is as much about comedy as music, performing traditional pub songs with a fresh twist that's at the same time both bawdy and beautiful. Nero’s Fiddle is the “Girl Power” movement of the Renaissance, and collectively have over 30 years of performing experience.  Nero’s Fiddle has been described as the love child of the Spice Girls and the Rankin Family, but you’d have to see it to believe it!

Relative Harmony: Faery Fest Masquerade

With Judy as caller, Relative Harmony has been playing for Contra, Square and English Country dances since the turn of the millennium.  Their style is influenced by the playing of many of the current New England dance bands, and is sure to keep you on your toes with a strong, steady back-beat and energetic fiddling.  They have performed all over Ontario, including Ottawa, Owen Sound, Toronto and Hamilton; in the U.S.; and at a plethora of school, community, camp and wedding dances.

Relative Harmony: Rick and Judy—children’s music

Everyday songs combined with those written with a deliberate environmental message provide the focus of a program that seeks to reinforce the adage, “think globally, act locally.”

The audience is invited to sing, sign and move through an uplifting hour of music that seeks to find solutions to the ecological equation that manifests itself in our post-millennial world.

Crye and Cudgel

Crye and Cudgel’s comedy duo show consists of duel stand-up, balancing acts, tumbling, stage combat, and much more.

Jennifer WhiteJennifer White and Robert McMaster are a magical addition to any entertainment program.

Jennifer works out of a long-standing bardic tradition of harping and storytelling, taking listeners on musical journeys into the magical worlds of Celtic myth and legend. She has taken a unique approach to the craft by enriching the storytelling experience with original and evocative musical settings she has
composed for Celtic Harp.

Robert McMaster is an eclectic percussionist.  What, you may ask, is an “eclectic” percussionist?  Well, to quote Robert, he’ll “hit anything that won’t hit back,” when searching for that perfect tone.  You’ll find Robert behind the rhythm of each song and story he and his partner Jennifer weave magically on stage.
